An independent investigation into allegations of widespread arrest quotas and unethical conduct by the Berkeley Police Department's bike unit found that no such practices existed, The Berkeley Scanner has learned.

But there are still open questions — and we will be seeking additional records and information from the city.

Last night, we also shared news of a freeway pursuit by Contra Costa County sheriff's deputies that preceded a collision — by an uninvolved motorist — that sent a fleeing suspect to the hospital with major injuries.
