We reported the tragic news today that a man who set himself on fire last week at UC Berkeley had died.

We were the first news outlet to report his death thanks to our deep community sources.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in San Francisco identified him as 42-year-old Chet Bohrer of Salt Lake County in Utah.

The driver struck a fence and ran into some garbage bins but appears to have avoided hitting the home itself.
