Last night's City Council vote on tear gas didn't happen due to technical problems with the audio system. Staff tried for hours to fix it, but things only got worse.

Much of the night was taken up by public comment opposing police tear gas use and decrying the dismantlement of the Harrison encampment (which was not on the agenda).

As a result, council never got to have its own discussion about tear gas. The plan is to bring the item back in a special meeting Sept. 29.

We didn't write a story, but we stayed until the bitter end, around 11 p.m.
