Berkeley cyclist taken to hospital after car crash on Marin
Marin Avenue was closed at The Alameda and south to Monterey Avenue during the large emergency response.
A cyclist was taken to Highland Hospital on Tuesday morning after colliding with a driver in North Berkeley, authorities report.
Limited details were available as of publication time.
The crash happened just before 9:25 a.m. at Marin Avenue and The Alameda, Berkeley police said in response to a Scanner inquiry.
The cyclist, a Berkeley woman in her 70s, had been traveling at about 20 mph when she collided with a driver and fell to the ground, according to early reports.
The woman had been cycling with a partner at the time of the collision.

The driver, who was holding a toddler at the crash scene, and both cyclists were westbound on Marin when the crash happened.
The driver, who was in a black Hyundai Tucson SUV, may have been turning right onto The Alameda, or preparing to turn, at the time of the crash, according to initial reports.
His age and city of residence were not immediately available.
Berkeley police responded to the scene and provided traffic control.

There were at least six police cruisers along with a BFD supervisor and an ambulance at the scene, according to one count.
The cyclist was conscious and in evident pain while BFD prepared her for transport, witnesses said.
Police said she reported abdominal pain; there were also indications of a possible clavicle injury.
The Berkeley Fire Department took the woman to Highland Hospital "Code 2" (without lights and sirens) for treatment.
No other information was immediately available. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
