Woman on e-scooter struck by driver near UC Berkeley
Police said a driver in a pickup truck struck a woman in her 20s at Walnut Street and Hearst Avenue.
First responders rushed an e-scooter rider to the local trauma hospital after a driver struck her near UC Berkeley on Thursday, police report.
The crash happened shortly before 5:15 p.m. at Walnut Street and Hearst Avenue just northwest of campus. Someone called 911 to report the collision.
Berkeley police said the woman was riding south on Walnut when an eastbound driver in a pickup truck struck her in the intersection at Hearst.

The woman, who is 23, according to early reports, sustained a leg injury and was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland for further evaluation.
There were indications that her leg might be broken, according to unconfirmed BFD radio traffic.
The fire department rushed her "Code 3," with lights and sirens, to Highland Hospital.
