Today's exclusive: A Berkeley landlord is facing criminal charges this week stemming from an arson investigation that began in July at an apartment complex on Oxford Street.

Police say Majid Farid is a Hells Angels affiliate with a history of "suspicious insurance claims."

We've also updated our gunfire map with some details about a shooting that took place Tuesday night.

BPD told us that police got several calls about gunfire near San Pablo Avenue and Derby Street just before 10:20 p.m. Community members said bullets penetrated the door of an apartment in the 2600 block of San Pablo.

BPD said no one was hurt and the case remains under investigation.

Berkeley shootings in 2023: The definitive gunfire map

As of Oct. 4, Berkeley has had 26 shootings in 2023 with seven people wounded. BPD also had a fatal police shooting at Toyota in Albany.
