Members of the group pointed guns at him and sprayed him in the face with a substance that temporarily blinded him. He sustained no injuries.

We also have a special report from longtime journalist Tom Abate on mental health spending in Alameda County — and how you can weigh in when it comes to the Board of Supervisors.

As you may know, Berkeley has its own pot of money and its own process when it comes to health services. We have some links for you at the foot of the story.

That said, Berkeley is part of a larger landscape and shares various services and systems with Alameda County.

So if this is a topic that interests you, knowing what the Board of Supervisors is up to doesn't hurt.

Remember to tune in on Twitter tonight for our live tweets about the police chief vote.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. You can catch up on the agenda here.
