Man shot in Berkeley; details scarce

Berkeley police were unable to locate a shooting scene and no one called to report gunfire, authorities said.

A man with a gunshot wound turned up at a Berkeley hospital seeking treatment over the weekend, authorities report.

Alta Bates hospital staff called Berkeley police Saturday evening when the man arrived with a gunshot wound to the foot, authorities said.

The man, a Berkeley resident in his 30s, said he'd been shot at San Pablo Park in southwest Berkeley at about 6:30 p.m., police said.

But officers were unable to locate a shooting scene, and no one else reported gunfire in the area.

The investigation is ongoing.

As of Sunday, Berkeley and UC police had investigated two other injury shootings and six non-injury shootings this year.

There had been eight non-injury shootings and no injury shootings in Berkeley at this time last year, aside from a non-fatal police shooting.
