Berkeley police arrested a suspect Tuesday following a homicide investigation that began over the weekend, according to police and public records.

Police arrested Damarcus Jones on a warrant Tuesday morning, records show. The Scanner is the first to report this news.

The first round of Alameda County election results is in, with Ursula Jones Dickson, who was appointed to the position in January 2025, ahead of recalled DA Pamela Price so far.

Jones Dickson has 82,887 votes (66%) to Price's 28,294 (23%) followed by Gopal Krishnan in third place with 11%.

The first round of results in the Alameda County DA race came in at 8:16 p.m.

The top candidate must secure more than 50% of the votes to avoid a runoff in November.

About 600,000 voters cast ballots in the November 2024 election that saw Price recalled.

Alameda County has about 970,000 registered voters, according to the county website.
