Man found dead on Berkeley sidewalk
He's been identified as Reed McNally Geritz, 37, of Berkeley. There were no obvious signs of foul play, police said.
A man in his 30s was found deceased on a Berkeley sidewalk Thursday morning, authorities report.
Readers asked The Scanner for details after seeing police activity in the neighborhood.
Police responded to the 1400 block of Carleton Street, at Acton Street, just after 7 a.m. after getting a report about an unresponsive man on the sidewalk.
Arriving first responders confirmed that the man was deceased.
There were no obvious signs of foul play, Berkeley police said.
The coroner's office took custody of the body and will now determine cause of death.
Update, 12:45 p.m. The man has been identified as Reed McNally Geritz, 37, of Berkeley, the Alameda County coroner's office said.
