A Walnut Creek woman was found deceased in the water at the Berkeley Marina over the weekend after reporting suicidal thoughts, authorities said.

On Saturday morning, Walnut Creek police called Berkeley police while searching for a vehicle belonging to a woman in her 60s, BPD said.

The woman, who had been describing thoughts of suicide, had told a family member she was going for a walk.

But he later realized the car was gone.

Police were able to locate the vehicle in Emeryville through the Flock camera system, BPD said.

Walnut Creek police then asked Berkeley police to search the marina based on the woman's prior visits to the area, BPD said.

Berkeley police and firefighters responded quickly, and found the woman's car parked near the water.

But she was already deceased when they arrived shortly before 10 a.m.

Readers asked about police activity at the marina, resulting in this report.
