I was quite inspired to see a NextDoor post last week from a local resident who set up his own "pay-what-you-can" plant stand on Prince Street (between at Ellis and King) to help pay for expenses related to a terminal illness. The current fundraiser is over but it was such a cool idea, I wanted to highlight it here.

The resident, Austin Buben, said he'd still like to help others who might be looking to launch their own pop-up stands — and encouraged neighbors to get in touch with their plant questions, writing: "I have a minor in horticulture from Cornell and am obsessed (clearly) with all things plants."

And he plans to put his own stand back up when he can.

"I have more from my garden taking root, so I’ll put this back up in a few weeks or so," he wrote.

It's not every day you see something inspiring on social media! We wish Austin the very best.
