TBS Today, Feb. 10
Last night we broke the news that council members had voted to terminate the city's director of police oversight.
We'd been watching this issue closely for months as his relationship with the city soured.
After publication, we added some key details to the story about how much the separation will cost the city, a particular concern given the tough budget times.
Don't miss the update.

Watch: A robbery inside a Berkeley market
We've been working to learn more about how last week's gas station robbery unfolded.
At our request, BPD released the video. It is graphic (including the audio), but also provides a much better sense of what happened. We've added this to our story.
In other news: Berkeley council meets tonight, Feb. 10
Tonight's Berkeley City Council action begins at 5 p.m. with a special meeting focused on council priorities. It's wonky, but helps determine how city staffers triage all the asks.
The regular council meeting, at 6 p.m., has only one action item: a zoning board appeal about an eight-story building with 110 units approved at 2109 Virginia St. just east of Shattuck Avenue.

We don't plan to cover this project (or this meeting). But you can see Item #14 for details.
Other items on the agenda:
- The city is redesigning its free ride program (again) for seniors and the disabled. Due to a lengthy waitlist and budget shortfalls, each ride will now cost $4. Berkeley says that's in line with what other cities do.
- "Second readings" (aka final votes) on several items approved previously, including updating the city's Police Equipment and Community Safety Ordinance; allowing ADUs to be sold separately; and streamlining approval of certain housing projects.
In case you missed it
