Berkeley police investigate carjacking on Frontage
There have been 14 other carjackings in Berkeley this year compared to 13 over the same period last year.
Police are investigating a carjacking in West Berkeley on Friday night.
A man called police to report the incident at about 11 p.m.
He said he had been driving an hour earlier at West Frontage Road and University Avenue when the carjacking happened.
He had come to a stop when someone with a gun approached him and took his car, Berkeley police said.
Police declined to release any other details due to the ongoing investigation.
There have been 14 other carjackings in Berkeley this year compared to 13 over the same period last year, according to BPD data.
Robberies overall in Berkeley are down, however, with about 170 so far this year compared to 208 over the same period last year.
