The neighborhood has at times drawn police, including a non-injury shooting in October that saw two people arrested.
Police are investigating a shooting that woke the neighborhood and damaged multiple vehicles in West Berkeley overnight.
Berkeley police began getting calls Wednesday about the sound of gunfire at 1 a.m. near Ninth and Addison streets, authorities said.
When officers arrived, they found casings in the roadway but no victims at the scene.
They ultimately located vehicles that had been struck.
No arrests have been made but the investigation is ongoing, authorities said.

The intersection of Ninth and Addison streets has at times drawn police, including a non-injury shooting in October that later saw two people arrested.
Shortly after publication, Councilman Terry Taplin, who represents the district, said he would keep an eye on the investigation.
"I'm relieved there were no injuries reported but my heart goes out to all the neighbors impacted by yet another incident of gunfire," he said. "Continued gun violence in West Berkeley’s neighborhoods underscores the importance of equipping BPD with modern tools for crime intervention and criminal investigation. I commend the responding officers and await the results of the investigation."
The immediate neighborhood has also seen five robberies this year as well as four auto thefts, a felony assault and a kidnapping report, according to BPD data.

Prior to Wednesday, there had been no confirmed gunfire in Berkeley since late October.
The city has now had at least 15 shootings in 2025 but, aside from a non-fatal police shooting, none have resulted in injuries.
Last year at this time, there had been 24 shootings in Berkeley, including seven with injuries and three that were fatal.
