A magnitude 3.5 earthquake jolted Vallejo on Thursday afternoon, and at least some Berkeley residents also felt it.

The epicenter was near Sonoma Boulevard in the southern part of Vallejo.

The earthquake was recorded at 12:41 p.m. with a depth of 6 miles, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

"Earthquake shook me off the couch," one Scanner reader reported. "Shook hard over here on Benvenue."

More than a dozen Berkeley residents sent in reports to the USGS but most of the activity was concentrated further north and east.
