A magnitude 3.0 earthquake shook Berkeley on Thursday morning, following an active cluster that brought four quakes to Berkeley last month.

Thursday's epicenter was right under UC Berkeley's Calvin Lab, located off Piedmont Avenue between the Haas School of Business and Berkeley Law.

The earthquake was recorded at 9:23 a.m. with a depth of 5.6 miles, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

Writing on Reddit, one person called it a "tiny rumble."

"Wasn't sure if it was an earthquake or a big truck driving by," another wrote.

The earthquake coincided with California's "Great ShakeOut," which is observed each year on Oct. 16, "in remembrance of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake," the governor's office said in a prepared statement. "This magnitude 6.9 earthquake resulted in 63 deaths, thousands injured and displaced, and widespread damage to buildings and infrastructure."

To promote Thursday's event, UC Berkeley held a preparedness fair on campus, featuring "cuddly animals and plenty of games as well as demonstrations and giveaways to help fill up those emergency kits."

Authorities also took the opportunity Thursday to remind people to download the MyShake App (for iPhone and Android), which "provides Californians with up to 30 seconds of warning in the event of a M4.5 earthquake or higher."
