Host a gathering at your home or in your neighborhood to build community and connect with city staff on National Night Out.

Dozens of Berkeley neighborhood groups have already signed up for the Aug. 5 event.

It's not too late to join them: You can host a potluck, a cookout or a casual meet-and-greet.

By registering your National Night Out event with the city of Berkeley, you’ll be able to request visits from city staff.

The location will also be added to a citywide map to help neighbors you haven't met yet get connected.

National Night Out is a nationwide initiative aimed at fostering and strengthening relationships among neighbors. Building community makes us safer.

National Night Out: Register by Aug. 3

To host a gathering on your block, register your event by Aug. 3.

Plan your event for any time from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5.

Don't worry about the size of the event. Whether it's just a few neighbors or more than 50 people, all event sizes are welcome.

When registering, you'll be able to request the presence of city staff, including police, firefighters and the Office of Emergency Services. We do our best to visit each event.

Berkeley's National Night Out program is organized by the Berkeley Police Community Services Bureau with help from other departments, including Public Works.

For National Night Out on August 5, City-run block party is an option
If your neighborhood doesn’t have its own gathering or you want to join something bigger, come to our block party for activities, games, and food. It’s free to all. As neighbors around Berkeley come together on National Night Out, you also have the option to come to a City-hosted block party featuring activities for kids and food for all.While getting to know your neighbors at events near you is the foundation of building a community, our citywide event in central Berkeley is a chance to meet people from across the city and also connect with staff from Police, Fire, Parks, and Recreation.
