Hot off the presses, we've crunched the latest Berkeley crime data to give you a sense of the trends this year.

2024 Berkeley crime snapshot: Most crimes saw steep drops
In 2023, Berkeley saw a significant spike in serious crime reports, but nearly all the numbers plummeted in 2024.

Berkeley had two more non-injury shootings this week, one at Hearst and 10th on Thursday evening and one in the typically quiet Elmwood neighborhood on Christmas Eve.

We've also updated our gunfire map.

As of Dec. 27, Berkeley has had 29 shootings leaving three dead and seven wounded. There had been 35 shootings at this time last year.
