A man was taken to the hospital Tuesday night in what he described as a drive-by shooting in West Berkeley, authorities report.
The incident was reported shortly after 7 p.m. at University Avenue and Fourth Street, Berkeley police said.
The man told police he was walking in the area when someone fired a gun at him from a vehicle, hitting him, according to preliminary reports.
The man was taken by ambulance to Highland Hospital for assessment and treatment, authorities said.
If the preliminary details turn out to be true, it will be Berkeley's second injury shooting of the year.
Last year, no one was wounded by gunfire in Berkeley until March.
