Person taken to Highland after Berkeley motorcycle crash

The crash happened at Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Ashby Avenue at about 5:20 p.m.

A motorcycle and vehicle collided in South Berkeley on Tuesday evening, sending at least one person to Highland Hospital, authorities report.

Details were slim as of publication time but the crash happened at Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Ashby Avenue at about 5:20 p.m.

Police said the motorcycle was southbound on MLK when the driver of the vehicle made a left turn in front of the rider.

As of 5:40 p.m., police had called for a tow truck for the motorcycle, a white-and-blue Suzuki Gladius.

Police blocked traffic in the area during the initial response but, as of about 5:50 p.m., normal traffic was resuming, according to emergency dispatches.
