A masked man broke a woman's car window to steal her bag while she waited at a red light Saturday afternoon in North Berkeley, according to community and police reports.
Accounts of people burglarizing occupied vehicles at stop lights have been cropping up on Bay Area social media feeds this year, but it has not been common in Berkeley.

We spent Sunday afternoon at The Compound Gallery remembering mudflat artist Tyler Hoare, who died earlier this year after a prolific career.
He inspired so many people, many of whom have appreciated his work from the freeway for decades.
Hoare and his wife, Kathy, have lived in Berkeley since the 70s, first on Sacramento Street and then in the Berkeley Hills.
Many people, including Maestro Gaxiola, came out Sunday to remember Tyler and his incredible career.
It was wonderful to hear their stories and see fellow reporters Peter Hartlaub from the Chronicle and Rob Arias from the E'ville Eye. Tom Dalzell of Quirky Berkeley fame was also there (as were many others).
We've all been so inspired by Tyler's life and work.
Be sure to get some of his creations while you can. Proceeds will help support the Hoare family.
Point Richmond Gallery is also having an exhibition of Tyler Hoare's work on Friday, Aug. 25, from 1-5 p.m.
