How to make major gifts to The Berkeley Scanner
The Berkeley Scanner accepts tax-deductible major gifts of $1,000 or more through our fiscal sponsor, Bay City News Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization based in the Bay Area with tax ID 83-0654488.
There are several ways to make a tax-deductible donation.
Whichever method you choose, please ensure you specify that your gift is for The Berkeley Scanner so it comes to us. You can also send TBS a note to help us watch for it.

Write a check
Checks can be made out to Bay City News Foundation and mailed to 900 Hilldale Ave., Berkeley, California, 94708.
1) Write "Berkeley Scanner" on the memo line to earmark your gift for TBS
2) Include your email address to receive your tax receipt letter
3) Email The Scanner or call Emilie Raguso at 510-459-8325 to help us acknowledge you

Use a donor-advised fund
If you donate through Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable or BNY Mellon, make your recommendation through the DAF Direct website. If you have another donor-advised fund, please make the recommendation to your fund by specifying Bay City News Foundation, 900 Hilldale Ave., Berkeley, CA, 94708, along with BCNF's federal tax ID number (83-0654488).
Donate shares of stock
Donating appreciated stock is easy and may have significant tax benefits for you. Please check with your tax advisor. Note: Stock transfers often arrive without donor contact information. Email donations@baycitynews.com with your contact details for a prompt acknowledgment and tax receipt.
Donate from your IRA
A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your Individual Retirement Account can be a great, tax-advantaged way to support The Berkeley Scanner. Email donations@baycitynews.com for help with this process.
