Update: UC Berkeley 'all clear' after search for armed man

UC Berkeley authorities have asked people to shelter in place due to a police search near the Haas School of Business on Tuesday.
The Scanner is working to learn more and will update this story as quickly as possible.
The Haas School of Business is located at 2220 Piedmont Ave. on the east side of campus between Optometry Lane and Stadium Rim Way.

UC Berkeley police initially sent out a notice via its WarnMe app shortly after 3 p.m.
"Police activity near Haas School of Business. Avoid the Area until further notice," it read.
A second notice, identified as a "Critical Alert," followed at 3:25 p.m.
"Continue to avoid the area of Haas School of Business. Police are searching the Haas School of Business and surrounding buildings, including Cheit Hall and Chou Hall. Secure in place immediately if you are inside the buildings. Monitor official university alerts."
No other details have been shared but police say an update is forthcoming.
Due to police radio encryption, it was not possible to determine via public records anything about what type of incident might be underway.
Update, 3:55 p.m. Writing on Reddit, one community member said they had gotten a glimpse of the response on campus.
"I passed by Haas just before 3pm, riding AC Transit on Gayley Road. I saw an officer heading towards Haas with a weapon drawn but don’t know anything more than that as I was on a moving bus at the time."
Another Redditor also referenced the armed police response.
A Scanner reader told TBS that at least one summer camp at Haas, for high schoolers, had been impacted by the police activity.
"They are staying quiet and hiding under chairs," he said.
Update, 4:10 p.m. UCPD has issued the "all clear" after a report of a man with a weapon near Haas.
"At approximately 3 pm, UCPD received several reports of a man with a weapon in the area of Haas School of Business. UCPD officers responded and thoroughly searched the area (including Cheit and Chou Halls). No individual matching the description was found in the area, and police have determined that the buildings are safe to reoccupy. Please contact UCPD at 510-642-6760 if you observe any suspicious activity."
