It's Local News Day. Will you support The Berkeley Scanner?

Today, April 9, is the final day of our spring campaign. Please consider making a one-time gift or becoming a recurring member now.

It's Local News Day. Will you support The Berkeley Scanner?

In the past two weeks, we've held a spring campaign to recruit new paying members by highlighting the kind of reporting The Berkeley Scanner tries to do: Showing up fast when something happens, answering reader questions and following stories after the first headlines fade.

Our campaign has been building up to Local News Day, on April 9, a new nationwide day of action that recognizes the importance of community news.

We’ve combined forces with more than 1,000 news organizations to celebrate the essential role that local news plays in our everyday lives.

But this important work only matters if the Berkeley community is part of the process. We invite our readers and neighbors to join us.

If you value the work we do at The Scanner, this is the moment to show your support.

There are multiple ways to help:

Gifts you make on Local News Day help us report vital stories, from the most timely breaking news to authoritative crime and safety coverage.

With 100% of our support coming from our readers, this work only exists because people like you decide it’s worthwhile.

We set out to add 25 new members during our spring campaign.

We're not quite there yet!

  • If you read The Scanner but haven’t become member, now is a great time to join us.
  • You can also give a one-time gift to ensure we continue to keep our community informed.
