A man was rushed to Highland Hospital late Friday night after a driver struck him near Ashby BART in South Berkeley, according to early reports.

The crash took place at about 11:45 p.m. by the BART station, which is located at 3100 Adeline St.

Authorities said the man, who appeared to be in his 30s, was unconscious at the scene.

A driver struck him "at unknown speed," according to initial reports. He was rushed to Highland Hospital "Code 3," with lights and sirens.

No information was immediately available about the circumstances of the crash.
