A search is underway near Lake Anza for a missing UC Berkeley student who disappeared Tuesday, according to police and community reports.

Saketh Sreenivasaiah, 22, was reportedly upset about a relationship. His backpack, with his passport and laptop, was found on a doorstep in the Park Hills neighborhood next to Tilden Regional Park, a reader told TBS.

On Thursday, Berkeley authorities focused their search around Lake Anza, inside the park, with the help of the East Bay Regional Park District.

Sreenivasaiah was last seen in the 1700 block of Dwight Way (near McGee Avenue), police said in a Nixle alert early Thursday morning.

Police described Sreenivasaiah as 6 foot 1, 160 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes. He is Indian.

Berkeley police ask anyone with information about Sreenivasaiah to notify local law enforcement.

"We are working with EBRPD to coordinate ongoing search efforts," BPD said. "We are still asking for the community’s help in locating him."

Sreenivasaiah has been pursuing his master's degree in the Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering department at UC Berkeley, according to his LinkedIn page.

He has an undergraduate degree from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, a top engineering school in India.
