Young woman taken to hospital after crash near Cal
The woman was crossing Oxford Street at about 10:30 a.m. when a southbound driver struck her near Cedar Street, Berkeley police said.
A pedestrian was taken to Highland Hospital with a head injury after being struck by a driver near UC Berkeley on Wednesday morning.
After the crash, the pedestrian — a woman in her early 20s — was conscious and alert at the scene, according to initial reports.
She had been crossing Oxford Street at about 10:30 a.m. when a southbound driver struck her at Cedar Street, Berkeley police said.
According to BPD, the woman was "running across the street" when she was hit.
Police have not said whether the woman was in the crosswalk at the time of the collision or who had the right-of-way.
She reportedly flew 5 feet to the concrete and struck her head after being hit.
The investigation is ongoing.
