Police have now classified a random attack against a pedestrian in South Berkeley on Saturday as a felony hate crime.
The incident sent the 75-year-old man to the hospital with a head injury, authorities said.

According to police, Aaron Crayford “directed an anti-LGBTQ slur at the victim” during the assault. The 75-year-old man sustained a head injury.
