UC Berkeley police are investigating a robbery via gun that took place Monday night, according to preliminary reports.

The robbery happened at about 10:25 p.m. Monday on Ridge Road north of the UC Berkeley campus, according to emergency dispatches reviewed by The Scanner.

Police said the culprit took someone's wallet, then drove off toward the Foothill residence hall in a silver or gray sedan.

The robber wore a black mask, a T-shirt and blue jeans.

The Scanner has asked UCPD for details and will share more information if it becomes available.

11:30 p.m. UCPD put out an alert on its Safety App about the robbery, noting that it occurred at 10:20 p.m. in the Ridge parking lot at 2684 Ridge Road between Le Roy Avenue and La Loma Avenue.

"An unknown masked individual approached the victim from behind and stole their wallet. The suspect was armed with a pistol. The suspect fled in a dark colored sedan driven by another unknown individual. UCPD searched the area, but did not locate the suspects. Under investigation."
