Authorities investigated a report of possible gunfire near UC Berkeley early Tuesday morning.
Officers arrived in the area at about 2 a.m. and found no signs of a shooting.
Berkeley's emergency dispatch center received the report a few minutes before 2 a.m., according to radio traffic reviewed live by The Scanner.
The caller told police they heard what sounded like 10 "loud reports" at Durant and College avenues, in the Southside neighborhood just a block south of campus.
Police only received one call about the sound and UC Berkeley's ShotSpotter gunfire detection system registered no gunshots in the area, Berkeley police said over the radio.
The Scanner will update this story if more details become available.
There have been 14 confirmed shootings in Berkeley this year, compared with 22 over the same period last year.
