Authorities have arrested the suspect in a recent shooting in West Berkeley, The Scanner has learned.

Berkeley police have so far declined to comment on the circumstances of the arrest, which took place Friday night in San Francisco.

Full encryption is not required and more moderate alternatives exist — as other California police agencies have demonstrated.
