OPD arrests 2 people linked to Berkeley gun battle Saturday
Officers seized "multiple firearms and ammunition" after arresting the pair with the help of the OPD helicopter, Oakland police said.

Police in Oakland arrested two people Monday in connection with a Berkeley gunfight over the weekend, authorities report.
Oakland police seized "multiple firearms and ammunition" after arresting the pair with the help of the OPD helicopter, police said.
Both suspects had "several outstanding warrants for their arrest," according to OPD.
Police initially tried to stop the pair Monday at about 3:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of 64th Avenue, OPD said in a prepared statement.
"The driver failed to comply and left at a high rate of speed, driving recklessly," OPD said.
OPD initially chased the car "but ended the pursuit due to unsafe conditions," police said.
ARGUS, the OPD helicopter, continued to follow the car "through multiple areas of Oakland."
The driver ultimately stopped at Harold Street and Coolidge Avenue, about 4 miles from the original location of the car stop attempt, and then "exited and was taken into custody," according to OPD.
But the incident didn't end there.
Police say the passenger got into the driver's seat "and left the scene, driving recklessly again."
The helicopter continued to follow the car until the driver stopped at 41st Avenue and East 16th Street, 2.5 miles away, and was arrested.
Police shared no further information about either suspect. The Scanner has asked OPD for additional details and will update this story if they are provided.
OPD asks anyone with information about the case to call the OPD Criminal Investigations Division at 510-238-3426.
The investigation is ongoing.
