Berkeley woman arrested after gunfire on Harmon Street

Officers found a gun and other evidence Monday at the woman's Berkeley home, police said.

Police arrested a Berkeley woman this week in connection with a non-injury shooting that stemmed from a domestic dispute, authorities report.

The incident dates back to Sept. 7 when BPD was dispatched at 1:45 a.m. to the 1400 block of Harmon Street for gunfire detected by OPD's ShotSpotter system.

Officers found a casing in the area but no property damage.

Video surveillance showed the shooter's vehicle leaving the area, Berkeley police said in response to a Scanner inquiry.

Police tracked down the suspected shooter using Flock's automated license plate reader camera system and got a warrant for her arrest, BPD said.

On Monday, BPD detained the 29-year-old woman at Market and 61st streets and then searched her residence in Berkeley.

During the search, "officers found a handgun, gun parts and ammunition," police said.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of firing a gun in a negligent manner, authorities said.

She has since posted bail. No charges appear to have been filed to date, according to available court records.

The gunfire on Harmon Street was one of three shootings recorded in Berkeley this month.

Berkeley has had 12 shootings in 2025, including one by police. Last year there were 21 shootings in the same period.

Update, Jan. 12, 2026: The woman's name and booking photograph were removed from this article by request after the DA's office confirmed it would not file charges. She has no other criminal cases in Alameda County.
