More than 100 people converged in Berkeley's Civic Center Park on Thursday to celebrate its reopening after nearly a year of major construction.

The ribbon cutting featured an array of park improvements.

But, perhaps even more exciting to many attendees, was a broad range of programming set to take place in the coming months, from concerts and movies to "taco Tuesdays" and "frosty Fridays," featuring food trucks for BHS students — not to mention the longstanding downtown Berkeley farmers market each Saturday.

The Scanner appeared to be the only daily news outlet at the event.
