TBS Today, June 24

Nearly 10 years ago, I began covering a tragic, high-profile shooting at an Oakland art gallery that took the lives of two young Berkeley High grads.

Over the years, I have had the honor of getting to know the family of one of those young men, Terrence McCrary Jr.

Terrence, just 22, was an innocent bystander who saved his friend's life that night when gunfire broke out at the party.

In recent years, his family and friends have done everything possible to keep his legacy alive.

That included getting the Berkeley skate park that was Terrence's refuge, and where he was a mentor to many young people, renamed in his memory.

Watch our short video about the event, which DA Ursula Jones Dickson and Councilwoman Rashi Kesarwani attended, along with many people who knew and loved Terrence.
