TBS Today, June 13

Two stories for you today: An update on the Police Accountability Board (we watched remotely) and a sad dispatch from North Berkeley this morning.

Police oversight board to review Berkeley encampment arrest
Video of the June 4 arrest has been circulating online since last week. Berkeley’s Police Accountability Board is set to discuss it June 25.
Person dead Friday in Berkeley after BART train collision
BFD found the deceased individual on the tracks near the BART tunnel at about 7 a.m., according to radio traffic reviewed by TBS.

Also: A brief update from a reader who lives near the tree hit by alleged car thieves this week.

The driver was northbound on Eighth when he tried to turn left onto Channing but "since they were going too fast they understeered and crashed into the tree. That broke the tree’s trunk just above the impact point."

"The tree then fell onto the car, as the driver and passenger fled. The whole thing was captured on camera by a neighbor’s surveillance system. The tree pushed the electric and internet cables down with it, but both have been restored now."

"The owner of the car came by later on. He’s an Uber driver and his kid’s car seat was still in the back when the car got stolen earlier in the day."

In other news: First-person singular

If you think I've been a bit slow this week, it's true — I have shingles! Fortunately, caught it early and I'm on the right meds so I hope to be back to full speed in no time. Until then, I appreciate your patience and consideration.
