A man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in a UC Berkeley parking lot that left a man in critical condition earlier this month.

The stabbing took place Saturday, May 3, in the parking lot at the Lawrence Hall of Science in the Berkeley Hills.

According to booking records, the University of California Police Department arrested 23-year-old Cesar Lozano on Friday morning.

UCPD made other arrests in connection with the case but, so far, only Lozano has been charged, according to court records.

The victim in the case was reportedly stabbed more than a dozen times while enjoying the view with his girlfriend from the science museum parking lot, authorities report.

Neither he nor his girlfriend, who are both in their 20s, are affiliated with UC Berkeley, authorities said previously.

There were early reports that a disgruntled ex may have been responsible for the attack but authorities have not confirmed those details to date.

On Tuesday, the Alameda County district attorney's office charged Lozano with attempted murder, two counts of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, according to court records.

Lozano is not scheduled to enter a plea in the case until May 28, according to booking records.
