The University of California Police Department is investigating a sexual battery report inside a UC Berkeley residence hall Friday.

Details remain scant.

UCPD said only that a resident of a UC residence hall went into someone else's room and "committed sexual battery against multiple room occupants."

The incident happened Friday at about 3:40 a.m., UCPD said in a prepared statement.

UCPD did not share any other information about the incident or the location where it happened, or whether any arrests had been made, citing the nature of the incident as the reason for the lack of detail.
