Maljanae Williams was part of an “organized retail theft crew” in San Francisco known as the Rainbow Crew, according to BPD.
Thieves steal $13,000 in goods from Berkeley Sephora
Police spotted the getaway car but could not chase it because of BPD’s vehicle pursuit policy.
Gunfire in Berkeley during conflict over auto theft attempt
The car thieves shot at a resident who struck their getaway car with a baseball bat as they fled the scene, police said.

As of 4:30 p.m., BART said there was “limited service” on the red and orange line and that BART is working to restore full service.

We asked BART if there were any updates on the man's condition and the transit agency said they had none.

Berkeley police investigate Claremont car break-in spree
Police spotted the involved vehicle speeding southbound and running red lights on Claremont Avenue, according to preliminary reports.
