Sending today's email from 37,000 feet, on my way to Baltimore for the data journalism conference I mentioned last week.

Coverage may be light until I'm back next Wednesday, but I'll certainly keep you posted about what I do publish. Several things are in the works (as always).

Hot off the presses: A group of Cal parents concerned about safety around campus has hired its own security ambassadors — and they started tonight.

Private security pilot funded by Cal parents starts tonight
The safety ambassadors will be easily identifiable by their bright-colored jackets that sport the words “security” and “SafeBears.”

Also, if you're a District 7 voter (Southside), make sure to mark your calendar for March 20 when the local League of Women Voters is holding a candidate forum.

District 7 tends to be a very low-turnout district so it will be interesting to see how the candidates get out the vote.

Speaking of elections, no new updates yet tonight from the registrar of voters about Tuesday's election. But you can keep up with results online.
