Man arrested after reports of sexual battery at 924 Gilman

The suspect was identified as Mark James Bradley, 41, of Oakland. He left the club but officers were able to pull him over and arrest him.

Berkeley police arrested an Oakland man Saturday night in connection with sexual battery reports involving several minors during a show at 924 Gilman.

Police began getting reports shortly after 8:30 p.m. about the sexual battery of a 17-year-old girl who had been groped at the longstanding, all-ages punk music club on Gilman Street.

The reports included a description of the alleged assailant, who had gotten into a car and left westbound on Gilman Street, Berkeley police said.

Officers were able to find and detain the suspect, who was identified as 41-year-old Mark James Bradley.

During the investigation, police learned there were reports of multiple victims.

Bradley was ultimately arrested on suspicion of sexual battery by restraint and battery, which are both listed as misdemeanors, according to jail records.

His bail was set at $25,000. He was no longer in custody as of publication time.

Bradley was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday at Wiley Manuel Courthouse in Oakland, according to booking records.

UPDATE, Jan. 31: BPD provided the following statement to The Scanner.

On Saturday around 8:40 p.m., a group of juveniles were attending an event at 924 Gilman.

"During the event, a subject (later identified as Mark James Bradley) approached multiple juvenile victims pulling them into his arms," Berkeley police said. "A few victims reported their breasts being fondled."

Security workers removed Bradley from the event, police said. BPD later detained him.

"Bradley was identified as the involved suspect," according to BPD. He was arrested on suspicion of sexual battery and assault.
