Man grabs student in sexual battery at UC Berkeley dorm
The student felt the stranger grab her buttocks with both hands. Then he ran away.
Police are investigating a sexual battery in a UC Berkeley residence hall earlier this week.
The sexual battery took place Wednesday at 8:45 p.m., UCPD said in a WarnMe alert Thursday morning.
The University of California Police Department said a female student had noticed a male stranger, possibly a juvenile, in her dorm lobby before the crime.
He was short and small in stature and wore a black hoodie and yellow ski mask, police said. (UCPD shared no other physical details.)
The student took the elevator upstairs alone but, a short time later, after she had gotten out of the elevator, she felt the stranger grab her buttocks with both hands.
"She turned and saw him run down the stairs," police wrote.
About five minutes later, the student returned to the lobby with a friend and saw the stranger again.
He ran from the building when he saw them.
Police did not identify the dorm by name or location in Thursday's prepared statement.
UCPD asks anyone with information about the crime to call 510-642-6760.
