One caller told police they heard a dozen shots in the area of San Pablo Avenue and Haskell Street.

Residents in West Berkeley reported a spate of gunfire on Friday night and police have responded to the area to see if they can locate any signs of a shooting.

One caller told Berkeley police they heard a dozen shots in the area of San Pablo Avenue and Haskell Street.

Another person in the neighborhood told The Berkeley Scanner he had heard the same thing just after 8:10 p.m.

The Berkeley Police Department checked with the Oakland Police Department to see if OPD's ShotSpotter gunfire detection system picked anything up.

As of about 8:20 p.m., it had not, police reported over the radio.

Some community members told police the gunfire may have taken place in Oakland, according to radio traffic reviewed by The Berkeley Scanner.

Berkeley has had about 50 confirmed gunfire reports in 2022, leaving three people dead and approximately 16 wounded.
