**Update, 12:31 p.m.** Two people were declared dead at a home on Panoramic Hill in Oakland on Friday morning, according to emergency dispatches reviewed by The Scanner.

"Both patients have been declared," a firefighter reported over the radio at about 11:25 a.m. "All units can cancel."

Firefighters had to walk, rather than drive, up to the scene in the 400 block of Panoramic due to police vehicles blocking the way.

The neighborhood is known for narrow streets and hairpin turns that make emergency access difficult.

"We need units to coordinate or you guys aren't going to be able to get out of there," one Berkeley firefighter advised.

Over the radio, another firefighter described the roadway as an "absolute parking lot," asking crews to stage lower down the hill in the 200 block of Panoramic Way.

"There's a PD officer there, they can direct you up," he said.

**Update, 2 p.m.** Police have identified the deceased individuals as a married couple who lived in the 400 block of Panoramic Way.

The man, 61, and woman, 63, were found outside their home by a neighbor who went to investigate after hearing gunshots, OPD Assistant Chief Casey Johnson said in a news conference at 1:30 p.m.

Johnson said it was too soon to classify the incident as a murder-suicide, but that police are not looking for anyone else.

"Everything's a possibility until we can fully investigate the scene," he said. "There is no current threat at all to the neighbors or the neighborhood here in this area."

Johnson thanked Berkeley police and firefighters for their help and said Berkeley police had "notified us of their death upon arrival" despite life-saving measures.

The Oakland Police Department's Homicide Division will investigate the case.
