Police sent an advisory at about 10:40 p.m. asking people to avoid the area due to the road closure and investigation. "There is no vehicle or pedestrian access at this time. Please use alternative routes," police said. The crash took place at about 10:10 p.m. when a driver struck a young man crossing the street, according to police and public records. Limited details were available due to the ongoing investigation. The police department's Fatal Accident Investigation Team, which handles serious collisions as well as fatal ones, was called in to handle the case. The pedestrian was described as a young man, possibly 20, who lost consciousness due to the collision, according to initial reports.
