# Police investigate sexual battery near Berkeley High

A woman standing on the sidewalk was groped by a teenager in [downtown Berkeley](https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/topic/downtown-berkeley/) on Friday, authorities report.

Police said the woman was in the 2000 block of Allston Way when a boy, who appeared to be 16 or 17 years old, ran into her.

The teenager initially apologized but then grabbed the woman's breasts before running away, police said in response to a Scanner inquiry.

Someone [called 911](https://berkeleycrime.com/i/id/dbdbdf52-fac5-4d22-b603-6bdee9aae9f0?ref=berkeleyscanner.com) to report the incident, which took place Friday shortly after 5 p.m.

Friday's sexual battery report follows a [robbery and assault](https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/2026/08/28/crime/berkeley-high-student-14-robbed-near-school/) Wednesday that also took place near the high school campus and involved teenage boys.
