[Berkeley police](https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/topic/berkeley-police-department/) said officers responded to the crash, in the 2800 block of Sacramento Street, at about 1:10 p.m. Police blocked southbound traffic at Oregon Street, and northbound traffic at Julia Street, for the investigation. The cyclist, who is reportedly 66 years old, was thrown approximately 10 feet into the air and initially knocked unconscious, authorities said. According to unconfirmed reports, he was riding his bike across the street when a southbound driver struck him at about 25 mph.
