[**Berkeley Fire Fighters Association*](https://www.bffa1227.org/?ref=berkeleyscanner.com) The Berkeley Fire Fighters Association has launched an [online fundraiser](https://fundthefirst.com/campaign/support-ethan-fight-against-cancer-hssx67?ref=berkeleyscanner.com) to help a close colleague fight cancer. According to the fundraiser, firefighter Ethan has elected a [specialized treatment that has better outcomes](https://fundthefirst.com/campaign/support-ethan-fight-against-cancer-hssx67?ref=berkeleyscanner.com) but comes at a cost, requiring extended time away from his wife and child. The approach "is not fully covered by insurance, leaving Ethan with significant out-of-pocket expenses," the association wrote. "This fundraiser is meant to ease the financial burden so he can focus on recovery without additional stress."
