The collision happened just before 7:15 p.m. at San Pablo and Ashby avenues. "He was trying to get up but was told to lay back down," a dispatcher advised firefighters over the radio. The man said he had been in the crosswalk when a driver in an SUV struck him at approximately 35 mph, according to initial, unconfirmed reports. "The patient does not recall getting hit," first responders advised over the radio.
